Barbara is a PhD Biochemist who left lecturing at Reading University to join The Body Shop in 1993. She has concentrated her efforts into developing and promoting cosmetic raw materials and actives.

The new millennium found her working in New York for Collaborative Laboratories (now BASF) and later with Huntsman LLC in Texas. She returned to Europe in 2004 joining Optima Chemicals (now IMCD group). She recently took up the position of Director, Personal Care at Applied DNA Sciences New York.

She is an enthusiastic follower of trends and jokingly referred to as the formulator’s muse. As far back as the mid-1990s, she saw skin protection from atmospheric pollution as an essential.

In her new role at Applied DNA Sciences, she will be exploring ways to protect the supply chain and brand integrity.
